That explains why Kareena opted out of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. I guess she prefers Punit Malhotra/KJo over Mr. Bhansali. Or do you think she chose this film instead because she prefers Imran over Ranveer Singh? I personally think it’s a bad decision on her part because 1. Ranveer is a promising up and coming talent, 2. Sanjay Leela Bhansali made Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas for heavens sake!
What do you think, did Kareena make a good decision or a bad one? She is known to toss aside films that later go on to become super hits (Remember Kal Ho Na Ho?).
Mr. Imran Khan is one busy guy! He just wrapped Vishal Bhardwaj’s next film with Anushka Sharma and now he is on to two very exciting projects. The first is Punit Malhotra’s next film. This is the second time Imran will work with Punit (the first time was for I Hate Luv Storys).
The second film is the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel Two States. The story revolves around a punjabi guy and a tamil girl who fall in love but must face the opposition of their parents. This film has changed directors, leading men and leading ladies several times:
First it was to be directed by Siddharth Anand (Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Anjaana Anjaani) and Priyanka Chopra was to be the leading lady.
Then, Vishal Bhardwaj was to direct the film and Shah Rukh Khan was to star in the film.
After that Ranbir Kapoor confirmed he was approached for the project and Imtiaz Ali was chosen to direct.
Now Imran has been chosen as the leading man and Imtiaz Ali is directing.
Guess we will have to wait and watch who bags the role of the female protagonist.
Personally I wanted to see Ranbir as leading man. He would have brought that punjabi authenticity that the role requires. Still, I love Imran too so not too disappointing. I think he can pull it off as long as he doesn’t take a stereotypical approach toward his character of a punjabi boy (paranthas, mummy’s boy, lots of galis, etc). As for leading lady I think PC is a great choice! Even though she is a punjabi she had portrayed characters of various regions of India very well. If any actress can fit into any role it’s PC (remember she played 12 characters in What’s Your Raashee?). Plus I think the PC-Imran jodi will be a pleasant surprise like the Kareena-Imran jodi was. Having said that other names doing the rounds are Asin and Deepika.
If you haven’t read the book yet get your hands on it now! It’s a great read for those who love all things romantic.
