YAY!!! Some color from Vidya and Ash! Though I really am not a fan of Ash’s anarkali/gown at least it has some colour. Vidya looks great!
Vidya is in Sabyasachi again and Ash is in Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.
As Cannes continues we get to see more of Sonam, Vidya and Mallika.
Aishwarya and the directors of Bombay Talkies are also now in Cannes.
I have to say I am kind of getting tired of Sabyasachi. It’s summer and all I see is back/maroon/brown/gold Sabyasachi creations! First Vidya and then Aishwarya. Sonam is the only one who provided us with some summer color in her Dolce and Gabbana dress (the white one with flower print). Plus Sonam’s jewellery is to die for! Her mom is a jewellry designer so I guess that is a given (pretty much every girls dream right?!).
Here are pics of Ash’s first two appearances:
The saree/jacket which Ash wore to the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala is designed by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. These two designers are the Bachchan family’s old friends.
The black maxi-gown Ash is seen in above is by Australian designer, Angelo Katsapis.
Personally I have no problem with Ash’s weight. She just had a baby and she deserves a break to enjoy little baby Aaradhya. Still I do not approve of her choice of clothing. The maxi is cute but the sweater on top just ruins the look. Plus what is with her hair! She needs a haircut or a better hair stylist pronto! The Indian look is better but I don’t like the neckline. She is at Cannes but she looks like she walked off the set of Jodha Akhbar! Ash is a beautiful woman with or without her pregnancy weight but she fails to impress me with these two looks.
Do you think Ash has started off her eleventh year at Cannes stylishly or not? Is the media right to criticize her failure to lose that pregnancy weight?
The wedding is not over guys! Bollywood couple Ritesh-Genelia had another marriage ceremony, this time a Christian one, this morning.
I tried to find a good picture of Genelia’s wedding gown but I could not find one. I think it is sweet that they had a traditional Maharashtrian wedding and a Christian wedding. In the pictures South actor Siddharth can be spotted and of course the one and only KJo!
Then later in the day was the reception where loads of stars showed up. This includes Aishwarya, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez with boyfriend Sajid Khan, Kareena Kapoor with soon-to-be husband Saif Ali Khan, Randhir Kapoor, Imran with wife Avantika, Aamir Khan with wife Kiran Rao, Nita and Mukesh Ambani, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Rekha and Sushmita Sen.
I am disappointed by most of the women. The color of the sair suits Kareena but the embroidery is nothing special (on the brink of tacky almost). I think Sush’s sari is just too over the top and the full sleeve blouse makes it worse. That being said, she looks super elegant and only she can make it work! Jacky’s suit is pretty but her makeup, jewellery and hair ruin the look. Juhi’s suit has potential but the way she draped the dupatta and her shoes ruin the outfit. Avantika’s sari is alright but the blouse is dreadful. Nita Ambani’s sari makes you question if she really is one of the richest women in the world. Rekha Ji’s traditional sari does not disappoint and she looks like the diva she is. The other look that is beautiful is Kiran Rao’s suit. It suits her well and is appropriate for the occassion. Also looking stunning is Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan! We missed you! It is Ash’s first full fledged appearance after delivering Baby B (whose name we still do not know, do they really expect us to believe they have not named her yet?). Her anarkali is beautiful! Madhuri looks okay, the color is great on her but the sari is neither stunning nor ugly.
The bride Genelia looked stunning at her sangeet but this look is just overwhelming. It is too much embroidery, velvet and stones. Her jewellery is too heavy. I know a bride’s is suppose do be but this looks like the petit Genelia is trapped! I am disappointed 😦 !
As for the men, they fared much better and all look good except Mukesh Ambani whose ties is a fashion disaster! Hire a stylist, we know you can afford one!
Ritesh looks okay but I wish he had worn some other color than black.
Special mention to Saifu! He is so dapper!
Well with that ends the wedding of Ritesh and Genelia.
Congratulations to the couple, the two look adorable together!
Oprah Winfrey is in India as part of her new show. On her visit to the country, she flew into Mumbai and the first thing she did was go pay a visit to Beti B! Then the Bachchan family and Oprah made their way to a part held by the Godrej family.
Oprah wore a sari.
More pics coming soon!
Have fun in India Oprah!
SO today I woke up to the most amazing news, the news of the year basically. Amitabh Bachchan has confirmed on twitter that his bahu Aishwarya Bachchan is pregnant!
Honestly, I thought this was the case when I saw Ash at Cannes. I thought she was either pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Doctors normally advise women to gain some weight for during the pregnancy. Plus, most women wait until the third month (trimester) is over to announce their pregnancy which means that it is highly likely Ash was pregnant at Cannes! Anyways, whatever the case I am so happy for the whole Bachchan family. I know Abhishek will make one awesome dad. Plus it would be cruel to the world if Ash’s genes did not get passed down! I feel almost as though someone I know is pregnant, it is really strange. I guess it is because Ash and Abhi’s journey to marriage and then through marriage has been so highlighted by the press that you feel as though you know them personally.
So let’s make a virtual toast to the Bachchan family!
A lot has been said about Madhur Bhandarkar’s next venture. At first it was said he was making “Heroine” with Kareena as the lead. Then, Kareena opted out of the project and Madhur told BollywoodHungama he would make another film first and then revisit “Heroine”. Now, he has signed Ash as the lead and is to start shooting for the film soon. Ash, Madhur and Ronnie Screwvala (from UTV Motion Pictures, which is co-producing the film along with Madhur) revealed the first look at Cannes yesterday. Here is what they told the press:
After his incredible run of women-centric films from Chandni Bar, Page 3, Satta and Corporate to the blockbuster Fashion, produced by UTV, Madhur Bhandarkar now turns his lens inward and presents his most ambitious work yet – HEROINE. The film is based on the life and times of a superstar heroine from the dream factory we call ‘Bollywood’. The film is an entertaining, daring, emotional, shocking, glamorous, scandalous behind the scenes account of the reality behind the world of glitz and glamour that our film stars inhabit. For a country obsessed with films and film stars, HEROINE will take audiences on a voyeuristic journey to see what really goes on behind the closed doors of make up rooms and vanity vans. It will give them a chance to go beyond the gorgeous smiles and politically correct quotes, to see what really happens in the lives of India’s sweethearts – The sniping & the politics, the secrets & the lies, the incredible highs of fame & the lonely depths of failure. This is the film Bhandarkar has been subconsciously preparing for ever since he joined the industry and one which he considers his magnum opus.
Talking about the film and her association with Madhur and UTV, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said, “Heroine is a film that the team was very excited about and yes I have just agreed to come on board. Madhur has been speaking to me for many years to collaborate together on a film and I am glad we are finally working together on HEROINE. He is the director of multiple award winning films in India and hence, as an actor I’m certainly looking forward to this experience. UTV and I have worked before on special work of cinema; Jodhaa Akbar and Guzaarish, both of which have achieved incredible acclaim, appreciation and awards for us (and many best actress awards for me). This new venture certainly looks like a strong creative synergy and I look forward to this new journey in film”.
On this occasion, Indian National Award winning director, Madhur Bhandarkar said, “I feel delighted to announce Heroine, my next project, at Cannes – one of the most prestigious global platforms. Unveiling the first look here is certain to be an auspicious start to the movie which goes into production mid this year. HEROINE is an extremely glamorous yet bold story of the internal journey of a star, which is sure to appeal to audiences across the globe and therefore Aishwarya was a perfect choice for the film – no one could have essayed the role better. I’m also glad that Bhandarkar Entertainment and UTV are working together again. This is our second film together and we share the same vision which makes the entire process of filmmaking very smooth.”
At the unveiling of HEROINE at Cannes, Ronnie Screwvala, CEO, UTV said “UTV and Madhur’s combination in Fashion combined the right blend of reality, something that Madhur excels in, with glamour, and it was mounted on a large canvas. With HEROINE we take it to the next level and when you see the movie finally you will know it was written only with someone as talented and expressive and stunning as Aishwarya in mind.”
Madhur always make good cinema so I am sure this film will be one to watch out for. Plus it will be interesting to see how he handles the concept because films addressing the same topic have been made before. Knowing Madur and Ash, they’ll put a unique spin to it.
Wishing them the best of luck with this endeavour,
